Sekhar Basu was born on January 14, 1940. Born and brought naked celebs up in Kolkata he is an M.A from Calcutta University. Starting his professional life in “Ananda Bazar Patrika” he moved to the English Daily “Hindustan Standard” and “Business Standard” where he worked for the next twelve years of his life. Thereafter he worked in Anandamela and Prabasi Ananda Bazar, an overseas edition of the daily. Currently he is living his dream as a full-time writer. Over the last 40 odd years, he has written quite a few fictions, short stories, detective books, and many of today’s adults grew up reading his books on Children’s literature.
He has brought to the Bengali readership a variety of translated and adapted works including the life of Premchand, Steven Callaghan’s adventure “Adrift”, “Classic literature” for the youth and celebrated short stories of International writers. He has done extensive research on the life of Netaji Subha Chandra Bose, right from interviewing his wife in Vienna, Austria to documenting his escape in the Submarine. His long hours of study into the lives of Vivekananda, Netaji and Rabindranath make him a modern-day scholar, and is frequently invited to deliver talks on literature and the lives of these great luminaries from Bengal.
